Richard Benyon, Parliamentary Under-Secretary for Natural Environment and Fisherieshas responded to our concern that Part 1 of the Commons Act 2006 has not yet been enacted. In his letter he says that Defra has made a commitment to fully commence Part 1 of the Act throughout England. However, the timetable for doing so has yet to be determined and an announcement will be made in the next few weeks.
In relation to another concern of ours - the loss of rights consequent to rateable apportionment, Mr. Benyon appreciates that there are differing views on this matter and Defra can only offer guidance. He suggests that the Foundation may be able to assist discussion among registration authorities and others about the best way to resolve this issue. We will be looking into how we can achieve this.
