Congratulations to John Waldon, one of our Trustees, on being elected as the new Chairman of the Dartmoor Commoners' Council.
The Dartmoor Commoners' Council has the duty to maintain the commons and to promote proper standards of livestock husbandry on the commons. The Council also has regard for the conservation and enhancement of the natural beauty of the commons, and their use as a place of recreation for enjoyment by the public.
John is also secretary of the South West Uplands Federation and has as a wealth of knowledge and experience about commons. He takes on a challenging and crucial job to ensure that Dartmoor commoners can maintain viable businesses so their commoning culture endures. We wish John all the best in his new postion and will help him support active commoning in every way we can.
