We have received a response to our letter sent on the 18th September from The Secretary of State, Owen Paterson MP. In our letter we raised two issues concerning commons:
- the importance of agricultural support for upland commons to maintain and enhance the delivery of public goods
- the need for the implementation of Part 1 of the Commons Act 2006 to ensure Simple, Affordable and Effective delivery of BPS on common land.
In his response, Mr Paterson agrees that upland farming has the potential to deliver a range of public goods. As far as the implementation of Part 1 of the Act he will be making announcement soon.
