A group of 14 young commoners from Dartmoor, New Forest and Bodmin came on a two-day visit to Cumbria organised by the Cumbria Young Commoners. The idea of the visit was for the next generation of commoners to see, learn from each other and exchange views about their future as hill farmers and commoners. They visited 5 hill farms that actively graze common land and waked at least 5 miles over the fell from Kentmere to Haweswater. The weather was perfect and the Cumbria Young Commoners agreed that it was "A fantastic couple of days hosting the Dartmoor and New Forest young commoners. Met some great people. Looking forward to the return visit."
The Foundation for Common Land supported this exchange visit along with Dartmoor Hill Farm Project and the New Forest Young Commoners. The Ernest Cook Trust generously paid for part of the travel and accomodation costs.
